Julia H. Townsend, DDS

Meet Dr. Townsend

My name is Dr. Julia Hendrix Townsend and I grew up in Pasadena, California. I’m a Board Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon who received my undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of the Pacific and my Doctorate in Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific in 1983. After earning my DDS degree, I completed a General Practice Residency at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, DC. I completed my Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency in the United States Air Force at Travis Air Force Base, California. I served 23 years in the United States Air Force and then was a surgeon with Kaiser Permanente, Santa Clara for three years. I am a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow in both the American and California Associations of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

I have devoted my professional career to all aspects of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice with special interests in the areas of Dentoalveolar Surgery, Dental Implants, Reconstructive Surgery, and the treatment of Oral Pathology. To keep abreast of the latest developments in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, I have always exceeded the continuing education requirements of California.

I have always enjoyed and been involved with teaching. I was the Chairman of the Oral Surgery Department at David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base and was an instructor for the Air Force Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program. I have also served as a Clinical Adjunct Professor at University of the Pacific, Dugoni School of Dentistry, San Franciso. My most recent teaching position was as a Clinical Instructor at Stanford School of Medicine in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

My hobbies include swimming, Pilates, vintage car shows, and motorcycling. I married my husband, Randy, in 1993. We have two twin boys: Aaron Michael Townsend and Matthew Robb Townsend.
